this mic blew my mind. i was getting back into sennhieser 421 again, the original and new..i found that my fancy cables and preamps made dynamics applicable as first line mic choices. same time, the PROCASTER comes out, its even better, and has enough room for boost circuits, or full remote mic preamps, tube circuits even. AND it works live. SO nice not not have a lot of crosstalk when i am editing off the floor live takes. the M1 is cheaper, but VERY SIMILAR if you get my drift. take the covers off when recording acoustic sources, and its nicer than a ton of expensive condensers.
