About the Ibanez RGA42E Electric Guitar

Add 3-D curves to the concept of the RG and you've got the Ibanez RGA42E. The RGA42E's dimensionality is easy on the eye-but, more importantly, those curves enhance playability.

Ibanez RGA42E Electric Guitar Reviews

I have a great Strat, Tele , and Guild acoustic. I wanted something with hotter pups, something that could round out my collection with a more sinister disposition, something that could really give my Blackstar amp's overdrove a workout while letting me treat my inner headbanger to a "proper" hard rock axe. And this guitar fit the bill perfectly. Overdriven, this is just a beast, snarling, squealing, and just plain visceral. The active EMG 85/81 setup is just electrifying, and together with the Blackstar, it's completely addicting. The action and setup was, remarkable, just about perfect right out of the box. I tuned it up, and was amazed to find that the intonation was spot on. Same with every other detail of the guitar, from the action to the frets to the binding. I've had some quality control issues in the past from Ibanez, but I'm glad I gave them another chance. It's incredible that a guitar like this is only $600. Granted, the paint isn't overly fancy, and there's no trem (which I definitely didn't want, and am glad to see hard tails still being produced despite all the teenage trem addicts), but $600 is just a straight up great price for a guitar that is clearly so well designed and put together. One note: the pictures that Zzounds and other e-tailers are showing of this guitar are a fairly large misrepresentation of the guitar (so blatant that I don't even know how they get away with it legally). In their photos, they show a matte black guitar. It's not. It's glossy. Pretty messed up that they can screw up a picture that badly (whether intentionally or not). But that aside, when I took it of the box I knew I was hold the sickest, most beautiful guitar I've yet owned. First thing I did was put it up on my wall hanger and take pictures of it. It's really slick, so don't get hung up on the matte black switcheroo. All in all, $600 EXTREMELY well-spent, and I'm very happy.
