About the Egnater Armageddon Guitar Amplifier Head, 120 Watts

High gain tube tone without the noise! The Egnater Armageddon Guitar Amplifier Head is a 120 watt, 3 channel, fully MIDI capable, metal amp with the ISP Decimator built-in! 4 premium 6L6 power tubes and 6 hand-selected 12AX7 pre-amp tubes fuel this goliath of an amp.

Egnater Armageddon Guitar Amplifier Head, 120 Watts Reviews

I bought this amp to fulfill a need in my studio. I was excited about the included ISP noise gate feature and though that it would have a super saturated and tight distortion channel and a decent clean channel. I'm assuming it is supposed to emulate a Diezel Herbert since it has the mid cut/boost/sweep feature that is a main feature on the Herbert. Now I have actually owned a Diezel Herbert, so I can actually compare the two and base my opinion on now owning both amps. My honest opinion the Egnater's gain channel is probably one of the worst I have ever heard for a tube amp. The ISP and the mid cut/boost/sweep does help a little bit, but overall it is horrible. Very hollow and lifeless. Nothing exciting or usable in the studio at all. I was very disappointed. I bought the amp for the gain channel mostly. The clean channel is decent, but nothing really exciting. Then again you don't buy an amp like this for the clean channel. In conclusion Egnater really needs to go back to the drawing board on the amp because it was a swing and a miss on this one. A total strike out! However the best part of this whole deal is zZounds return policy. Yes it did cost me $40 bucks in shipping to return this waste of electronics, but I was able to get a refund of the difference between this and the other amp I was looking at Peavey 6534+. They also shipped the Peavey for free. It took a couple of weeks for the refund exchange, but zZounds were very polite and quick on getting me an amp that would work for me. The Peavey 6534+ blows away the Egnater in every aspect and is $400 bucks cheaper!
