The RP1000 integrates into your amp and with your stompboxes, not the other way around. Featuring exclusive Stompbox and Amp loops, the RP1000 doesn't get in the way of your tone and switches external stompboxes in and out of the signal path like large pro rigs. Coming from a GNX4 owner, a little disappointed that there was no midi, but that's about it! If you are gonna record with it, probably have drums, so no drum machine, doesn't really matter either. As far as tones, it's gonna depend more on what you are monitoring sound through. Headphones, or straight out to speakers(monitors), great sound! I have a cheap practice amp, and doesn't sound half as good, but that's not the pedals fault, and with some tweaking of parameters, even that can be made to sound good! Once you download X-Editor from Digitech site, tweaking is a breeze, gas a 20 second looper,I recommend the footswitch(looper, and up/dwn presets. Worth the money, just try one out before buying!
